CBSE exams to be held in March, not February

TNN | Updated: Dec 22, 2017, 10:28 IST

HYDERABAD: The class 10 and 12 examinations will be held in March 2018, confirmed the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) in its latest circular issued to all its affiliated schools.

The circular stubbed speculations that were doing rounds for a long time that the exams will be held in February. The CBSE has scheduled the practical exams for class 10 and 12 students in January 2018.

Subsequently, the writ ten examinations will be held in March, 2018.

Emphasizing the need to have high quality and error free evaluation of the answer sheets, the board stated - "Smooth and efficient con duct of class 10 and 12 exami nations along with declara tion of result in time and with accuracy has always been the foremost endeavour of the bo ard. To ensure quality and er ror free evaluation of the ans wer booklets, the board requi res a large number of experienced and trained teachers to complete the whole process in a time bound manner," reads the circular which was issued on December 18.

| TNN | Dec 22, 2017, 15:17 IST
BHOPAL: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday announced 'value education' under 'Awakened Citizen Programme' in collaboration with the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi.
A latest circular issued to the city schools calls for enrolment from interested institutes for the three-year graded optional programme.

"With an objective to strengthen value education, the Ramakrishna Mission has prepared 'Awakened Citizen Programme' for teachers and students. The CBSE signed a memorandum for taking this programme to its affiliated schools," reads the circular.

"This programme is a three-year graded programme for students of Class 6, 7, 8 and 9. The programme acknowledges the potential of young learners and empowers them to harness their infinite strength and also provides a path to develop into enlighten citizens," the official communique states.

The board informed schools that the programme would offer a wide variety and will enable the participants to explore and develop universal values.

The board also offered a teacher training module for giving value education to students and has asked interested schools to adopt the programme by visiting the official website of CBSE.

DIABETIC JEE ASPIRANTS CAN CARRY FRUITS, WATER TO EXAM

NEW DELHI: Diabetic JEE (Main) aspirants will be able to carry sugar , fruits and water in transparent bottles inside the examination halls when they appear for the entrance test next year.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which conducts the pan-India exam, announced the new guidelines in the information bulletin of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main). The candidates will be allowed to carry fruits such as banana, apple and orange, however, they will not be permitted to bring packaged food items like chocolates or candies inside the exam halls.

The CBSE had made a similar provision for diabetic students appearing for board exams earlier this year, noting that the children suffering from diabetes “need frequent meals to avoid hypoglycemia which may otherwise affect their health/performance”. A circular was issued by the board in this regard but the candidates were required to submit a certificate from a diabetic specialist.

“It (move to allow diabetic students to carry eatables) was very much warranted as those kids who are on insulin may face sudden drop in sugar levels and the absence of any option may severely hamper their concentration and performance in the examination. Not just fruits, they should even allow them to carry cookies,” said Dr Anoop Misra, chairman, Fortis C-DOC centre of excellence for diabetes, metabolic diseases & endocrinology.

This year, over 11 lakh candidates took the JEE (Main), the entrance test for admissions to IITs, NITs, ISM Dhanbad .

The online application process for JEE (Main) 2018 will begin on December 1 and will last for a month.

Assigning streams: Schools to breathe easy

Kochi: Though most schools are worried about the upcoming annual examination, they are of the view that it would be easier for them to assign streams for Class XI students in the coming academic year.
“Earlier, in the CCE system it was easy for students to get good grades. So, most of them were eligible for the science stream but because of the new system, that will not be the case, as they will be graded purely on their capacity to attend an examination that will test an entire year’s syllabus,” said Father Anthony M, principal of the Sacred Heart School, Kochi.

He added that the main difficulty that science stream students face in Class XI is the inability to deal with the academic pressure.

“Once you are in Class XI, even the system of evaluation would change. Students find it really hard to cope. But now since they will not be evaluated under CCE and would have to write a comprehensive annual exam, they will be better prepared to deal with Class X1 and XII," he added.

Several schools would conduct an additional examination when the CCE system was in place in order to assign streams in Class XI because they felt that the grade assessed by the CCE system was not a sufficient standard of evaluation.

“Another advantage that CBSE students will have with the introduction of the new syllabus is that several state schools were reluctant to take students based on grades received from CCE because they believed that the system was too lax,” said K Unnikrishnan, president of the Confederation of Kerala Sahodaya Complexes.

But he said that CBSE students have a disadvantage when they apply for colleges as their marks in Class X would be lesser when compared to students studying the state schools as the CBSE examination is more “competitive”.

“There are several boards in the country and all have varying degrees of difficulty. In medical and engineering it is fine as they have several competitive examinations to assess the student for the course. But for several degree courses, the eligibility of the student is measured using the Class X and Class XII marks. Introducing a competitive examination in these courses would be ideal,” said Anthony.

NAGPUR: Providing proper care to children with special needs (CWSN) is likely to become easier for teachers and schools in the city under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

On Tuesday, the board constituted a committee which will formulate policies and guidelines for CWSNs in schools.

Principals of city's prominent CBSE schools have welcomed the board's decision and are expecting provision for better infrastructure and a learning/teaching process specifically designed for CWSNs.

K Balaji, principal of Delhi Public School. said, "Children with learning disabilities constitute around 15% of the total disabled population and they need more attention than those with physical disabilities. There is a critical requirement for teachers specially trained to handle such children."

"CBSE should make a provision for training teachers before they are recruited," Balaji said, emphasizing on the importance of school infrastructure and stringent guidelines for the same.

"It is high time CWSNs are given the same opportunities as normal kids. In special schools, these children are largely isolated when we allow them to mingle with other children," said Balaji.

According to principals, most teachers are able to manage special children well enough but it is the parents who expect a lot from their wards or don't accept that they need special care and attention. "Parents of CWSN sometimes can't understand that all kids are not the same. Managing parents becomes a challenge for teachers in this case," said Swati Chouhan, principal of Central India Public School, Kamptee.

Chouhan said workshops should be organized by schools for CWSNs and their parents. "This will help teachers and parents tackle the issues together. The committee should also re-look the courses currently taught and design special curriculum for CWSNs," she said.

Partibha Madan, principal of Royal Gondwana Public School, said, "People don't realize how gifted special children are. CBSE's decision will perhaps bring out their talents."

State cuts extra marks for arts & culture in SSC

New Rules Will Come Into Effect Next Yr

Mumbai: Ahead of the SSC examination in March next year, the state has revised its rules for awarding additional marks to students excelling in arts and culture. Students can now earn up to 15 marks extra, as opposed to 25.

Besides, the state has done away with the 2% reservation students who got the extra marks could avail in first year junior college admissions.

In addition to the marks doled out for participation in sports, for the first time in March 2017, extra marks were given for art and cultural activities for Std X students.

Nearly 81,000 SSC students across the state benefited in the first year. The number of 100 percenters in the state shot up to 193 in the March exam, about five times the number last year. Principals of city schools attributed it to the art and culture marks.

Principals of SSC schools in city unhappy with marks cut

According to a government resolution issued by the school education department on Friday, the new rules will come into effect immediately, from the SSC exam in 2018. “Since it was the first time last year, there was a lack of clarity and we felt there was a need to improve the rules. We consulted experts, reviewed the situation and decided to issue the new rules,” said Suvarna Kharat, deputy secretary, school education department.

Among the major changes is the halving of the additional marks awarded to students passing the intermediate drawing grade examination. In June, TOIhad reported that of the total students snagging extra marks for art and culture in the March 2017 exam, 93% got them for drawing. Similarly, those pursuing classical art will no longer get the additional 25 marks for wins at national or statelevel tournaments or bagging scholarships. In addition, the extra marks in board exams will be given depending on a particular student’s score in the classical art exams (see box).

State board school principals are unhappy. “When the SSC results were announced, a lot of non-state board schools had cried foul. It seems like the state has succumbed to that criticism. Now the state board students will lose out. We had seen an increase in the number of students opting for extracurricular activities this year. The state could extend the concessions to other boards too,” said Prashant Redij, member of the Mumbai principals’ association. The group will meet in the coming week to discuss how to take up the issue with the state government.

Principals said scrapping the 2% reservation will mean students lose their chance to get into colleges of their choice. “There are some colleges which are very popular among students following art and culture because of the theatre groups they have or the industry alumni they boast of. But someone who is seriously dedicating time to an art form may not be able to give enough attention to academics and hence not meet the high cut-off of the college,” said Veena Donwalkar, principal, Chattrapati Shivaji Vidyalaya, Sion.

Rules for the sports extra marks too are likely to be revised. “We are working on the government resolution for sports as well. It is expected to be released soon,” said Kharat. Students can get up to 25 marks extra depending on the level at which they have played a sport.

Assessing Students Academic capability

The following principles should be the guiding factors for the assessment of students:

1. Assessment should bring bene- fit for children. Either they should directly improve his learning capabilities or in improved quality of educational programs.

2. Assessment should be reliable, valid, and fair. There should not be misuse of assessments which could have adverse effects on a student’s academic development.

3. Assessment should be age appropriate in both content and the method of data collection. Assessments of young children should address the full range of early learning and development, including physical well- being and motor development; social and emotional development; approaches toward learning; language development; and cognition and general knowledge.

4. Assessment should be linguistically appropriate, recognizing that to some extent all assessments are measures of language.

5. Parents should be a valued source of assessment information, as well as an audience for assessment. Assessment results should be shared with parents as part of an ongoing process that involves parents in their child’s education.

Parents can soon take up fee hike grouse with govt panel

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Mumbai: Soon, parents and students in the state might be able to file a complaint about fee hikes with the divisional fee regulatory committee (DFRC). The state education department is considering making a change in the Maharashtra Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fee) Act of 2011 which currently allows only school managements to approach the DFRC.

There has been a constant demand from parents in Mumbai and Pune to allow them to approach the DFRC. In a ruling in July, the Bombay high court had also called for the change.

School education minister, Vinod Tawde on Thursday said, “We are considering the demand to allow parents as well to approach the DFRC. Preliminary meetings to discuss the issue have been scheduled. A decision will be reached only after a series of meetings.”

He, however, added the state may still not allow individual parents to file a complaint. “In case of a fee dispute, there must be consensus among a minimum percentage of parents, only then will the DFRC be able to hear out all complaints,” said Tawde. The department hopes to decide before the start of the next academic year.

Parents are wary of its implementation. “Many parents have an issue with fees but don’t want to step forward and complain. Hence, the state should acknowledge complaints from individuals. The state had set up a committee to propose amendments, but the report has not been submitted yet. These announcements are only an eyewash,” said Prasad Tulaskar, a parent who has been fighting fee hike.

Students beware! CBSE class 10, 12 exam 2018 set to begin in March; why you should worry

CBSE Exam 2018: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to conduct the class 10th and 12th board examination in the month of March next year, however, the official date sheet is yet to be released by the board.

CBSE Exam 2018:
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to conduct the class 10th and 12th board examination in the month of March next year, however, the official date sheet is yet to be released by the board. This comes after several reports earlier suggested that the board might prepone the board examination that are to be conducted in 2018 as part of reforms focused on “error-free” evaluation. No official statement about the board exam dates has been released by CBSE yet. In addition to this, the Central Board of Secondary Education is also planning to sum up the board examination in one month rather than stretching it till the next, according to media reports. This means that is the exams begin in the first week of March, they are most likely to be concluded by the last week of the same month.

Currently, the exams begin in the month of March and are concluded by the third week of April. This news will worry students because now they are most likely to get lesser gaps between two exams and that means less amount of time to study! A total of 10.76 lakh students were registered this year for the board examinations, out of which only 10.20 lakh students appeared for the examination. 8,24,355 students in 2017 were able to successfully qualify the board examinations. Students who are prepping to appear for the board examination of 2018 should note that CBSE usually releases the board examination date sheet for both class 10th and 12th on the same day in the month of January.

Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently on November 5, 2017 successfully conducted the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test 2017 (UGC NET) for which approximately 9.30 lakh candidates were registered. According to a press release by the board, “The exam was conducted in 91 cities at 1700 exam centres. The candidates appeared in three papers, paper-I of General Awareness was common for all and paper-II and III were conducted out of 84 subjects selected by the candidates.” It also stated, “Approximately 409439 male 519557 female candidates and 3 transgenders registered for the exam. More than 75% candidates appeared in the exam.”

The Online submission of form by the candidates placed in the category NIOP(Class X), FAIL/COMPARTMENT(Class XII) and those who wish to appear for improving their performance or for an additional subject as a Private candidate for the examination scheduled to be held in March 2018 has been started. Details in respect of students who have appeared in the Board examination held in 2017 examination will be auto-generated in the online system. However, Candidates of 2016 (or prior) will need to submit the details on the online application form.

CBSE exams to be held in March and wrap up within a month

CBSE exams to be held in March and wrap up within a month
PC: India Today
The Central Board of Secondary Education will be conducting the Class X and XII exams in the first week of March. Unlike what was planned earlier, the exams will not be rescheduled to February. The board is also trying to wrap up the exams within the duration of a month, instead of carrying it on for 45 to 50 days, a report in Hindustan Times said. Students appearing for the Class X and XII boards might be a bit concerned with this move as it will leave them with smaller gaps between exams.
Earlier this year, the board was processing a proposal to reschedule the exams to February in order to give examiners more time to check the answer scripts. This move was discussed as part of reforms focussed on "error-free" evaluations.

However, various CBSE-affiliated schools voiced their concerns regarding the rescheduling of the exams by a month, to which the board said that no decisions would be taken without the consultation of various stakeholders.

The duration of the exams is yet to be announced. Sources also mentioned that shorter duration of the exams implies that the results would also be declared earlier than usual.

"We are hoping to start the exams by March first week. Due to Holi the exam might not start from March 1 but these things are being finalised. We are trying to conduct the exam in a shorter time period to give the evaluation process more time," the HT report quoted a senior CBSE official saying.

According to a report in The Indian Express, a total of 10.76 lakh students registered for the exams, out of which 10.20 lakh appeared, and were cleared by 8.24 lakh students. Next year's exams will also include Class X students, who no longer would be able to choose between board exams and school assessment and will have to appear mandatorily to move to Class XI.

‘Govt website for JEE, NEET training a flop’

Mumbai: The online portal set up by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to prepare students for national level competitive exams JEE and NEET will have only multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The board issued a circular announcing the website and asking teachers and subject experts to send questions. Educationists, however, say that there are several such options and the move will render the state’s portal to be a futile exercise.

Teachers are expected to send the subject name, class (grade XI and XII), topic and sub-topic along with the questions till December 31. These questions will have to be uploaded on http:/neetqb.mh-hsc.ac.in and should be submitted only in MCQ format, said the circular.

Subhash Joshi, former teacher, said, “Instead of just providing a question bank the state needs to adopt the NCERT curriculum. In such a situation setting up an online portal with questions will not be helpful as such materials are available in the market and also provided by the coaching institutes,” he said.
Another teacher said that demo videos on how to attempt online exam, or online lectures from CBSE school teachers will prove to be more helpful.

Here is a list of tentative dates for the release of notification and NEET 2018 examination.

Students and parents are advised to note that the dates mentioned below are purely speculative in nature and based on past trends and general pattern followed by CBSE. Also, the sources who have made suggestions as per the exam date for NEET 2018 have not been verified. While it is possible for CBSE to conduct the examination on the date specified, the actual dates would be released only with the notification.

It is being suggested that the NEET 2018 notification would be released early in the month of January 2018. Some have suggested that CBSE may be trying to release the NEET 2018 notification at the earliest. It is important to note here that CBSE would be conducting the NEET UG 2018 examination. Also, as a rule, CBSE conducts the entrance examination on a Sunday. Hence, it is being suggested that NEET 2018 may be conducted on May 7, 2018. The actual date for the examination is expected to be released by CBSE soon.

Sources close to the board suggest that the dates are decided in consultation with the remaining boards. With NEET being the only entrance examination for admission to medical seats – both medicine and dental, CBSE has to make sure that all the board examinations across the country are covered before the examination. Also, CBSE would also be organizing JEE Main in the month of April. It is hence important for the board to be very careful while deciding on the date.

CBSE has already released the date for JEE Main 2018 examination. As per the notification available on the official website jeemain.nic.in, JEE Main 2018 offline (pen and paper) exam would be conducted on April 8, 2018. The dates for the online exam for JEE Main 2018 would be released by CBSE with the notification which is expected shortly. Sources and past trends suggest that the NEET 2018 notification would be released by CBSE only after the close of JEE Main 2018 registrations.

New Delhi Students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be able to seek corrections to their name, date of birth, parents’ name as mentioned in their mark sheet within five years of the declaration of their board results.

According to a senior official, CBSE school students so far had only one year time to seek corrections to their name, date of birth and parents’ name.
“The new rule will be applicable to all cases pertaining to Class 10 and 12 after 2015,” the CBSE notification released on Friday reads.

The revised time limit for this shall also be applicable to current ongoing cases that have already been received by the regional offices and headquarters of the CBSE as well as those pending in various courts, it added. The move will help more than 18,000 schools affiliated to the board.
CBSE had brought this provision of one- year window in 2015 as hundreds of students were applying for corrections years after passing out.

The rules were changed to fix the one-year window as many within the board had felt that students might be using the system to get a new identity with change in names and other details to procure passports or enjoy other benefits.

Before 2015 notification, there was no time limit for the students to seek fresh certificates with corrected names and other details.

Change in name, surname and other details of the students were allowed on the basis of an affidavit and a copy of a newspaper advertisement by the applicants.

Students to get lessons on PAN card, I-T returns & more

| Nov 7, 2017, 13:10 IST

INDORE: The CBSE school students in the state will now lessons on real life topics like utility of PAN card, filing tax returns, types of taxes, consumer rights, money laundering, dabba trading, shares and so on.

Under National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE), CBSE schools in the state have collaborated with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Securities Exchange Board of India, Insurance Regulatory Authority of India, Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority and National Institute of Securities Markets to incorporate facets of financial management in school curriculum.

The school curriculum draft prepared by NCFE on financial literacy covers wide range of topics which will be useful for students in the future. The list of topics to be taught in schools include plastic money and e-money, borrowing, investment, interest rate, types of bank accounts, services offered by banks, Aadhaar card, demat account etc.

Though the programme was launched by RBI back in 2013-14, not many schools across the state showed any interest in including it in their curriculum.

However aiming at including financial literacy in schools, NCFE has now approached CBSE school principals across the country and have also formed ambassadors in each zone to promote financial literacy amongst schools.

From the west zone, school principal from Indore Jaydeb Kar has been appointed as the ambassador who will be promoting financial literacy in schools of MP and CG, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan.

"Financial literacy is an important for holistic development of each student. This is a first of its kind national level test, conducted by NCFE, to measure the level of financial literacy among school students," saidJaydeb Kar, principal of
Vidya Bhawan Public School.

"Students can be taught financial management through various activities and projects like listing their expenses and savings, using piggy banks. The list of topics suggested by NCFE has important and relevant topics that will be useful for students in real life," he added. Even students agreed that there is a need for financial literacy.

They said that there are many topics in their books that may not help them in real world but such topics will be helpful for the rest of their lives.

"When I graduated from school, I was so unaware about the working of the bank and had to face a lot of difficulty while filling up online forms for college admissions. I wish we had some knowledge about these practical topics in schools," said Shikha Singh

Specialisation in one field not good enough for future jobs, say educationists & employers

Sahana Subramanyam is a final year student at Azim Premji Uni versity in Bengaluru. She is ma joring in economics and minoring in data science. She says she chose to focus also on data science because it bridges the demands of economics and her love for computer programming.

The university has a compulsory course for all students in quantitative reasoning, under which she chose to learn the Python programming language. In the data science course, among other things, she has learnt R, a programming language that enables you to manage and analyse massive data bases.

Sahana is already using Python to build a model for a research project on identifying how graded inequalities, such as caste, emerge in societies. “Programming languages allow you to use the power of the computer,“ Sahana says. It's a power that has touched extraordinary levels today .

Sahana's course combination allows her to do work that a traditional economics focused student would never be able to. “Take renewable energy , you cannot understand it without understanding economics, engineering, physics, politics.Real world is like that,“ says Anurag Behar, vice-chancellor of Azim Premji University. He is critical of the way India has fragmented education.

Many countries do not have this siloed approach to higher education. And today , as technology transforms the world, a growing number of educationists and employers believe it's time for India to move to a cross-disciplinary education system.

Sabina Dewan is co-founder and president of JustJobs Network, a thinktank based in Washington and New Delhi focused on finding solutions to create more and better employment. Dewan says a confluence of mega trends -technology , urbanisation, trade, migration, and climate change -is drastically reshaping the global employment. “The scale and pace of this is unprecedented and we are not equipped to understand how these will change jobs of the future,“ she says. So it is necessary to equip youths so they are flexible enough to respond quickly to a new context.

Sagar Paul, head of client services at technology consultancy ThoughtWorks, notes that businesses are already going through massive contextual changes. Earlier, a steelmaker may at best move into adjacencies like building automobile or white goods plates. Today , a Google moves from a search engine to autonomous cars.

“So it requires employees to be able to shift context quickly . We need change makers. We are not hiring for skills anymore, but a certain aptitude,“ he says.

Paul also notes that all enterprises have become consumerised, with the adoption of technology and services used by individuals in the workplace. So his employees also need to relate to people much more. “Customers are human beings, and we need to be able to have huge empathy for them. Empathy is much higher among those from the liberal arts, the performing arts. So we need artists who are technologists, technologists who are artists,“ he says, adding that India needs to introduce liberal arts into all curriculum.

Shraddhanjali Rao, head of human resources for India at enterprise software company SAP , brings in the imagery of a jungle gym and spider web to describe the kind of employee she values. A career, she says, is no more a ladder for you to grow in the same function one step at a time, but is a web of experiences across various functions and roles.

Paul Dupuis, CEO of Randstad India, which services the HR requirements of a number of large companies, says more Indian CEOs are discussing the need for multi-skilled employees. “Companies are looking for agile people who have a wide perspective. They want soft skills that might be acquired from a liberal arts back ground,“ he says.

Dewan of JustJobs believes changes must start at the school level and argues that six-month or one-year training programmes cannot make up for years of poor quality education.
Prof Jagadeesh Kumar, dean of academic courses at IIT Madras, says the institution wants its students to understand that as engineers, they can't say they will deal with only engineering problems.“Eleven per cent of the total coursework of a student involves working with disciplines including ethics, life skills, environment and political science,“ he says.

Balakrishnan Shankar, associate dean at the school of engineering at Amritapuri in Kerala, says students are looking to merge big data with biology and social science. “Theories that you learn in big data or engineering can be applied to population of birds, movement of sand dunes or census data,“ he says.
Rao of SAP says the ability to interpret and analyse data will soon become a base level expectation in all industries. This is why all undergraduate programmes at Azim Premji University have quantitative reasoning as a compulsory course. The university also has compulsory courses on public reasoning, which trains students on the art of public discussion, and on India, so that students can relate their core courses with the world outside.

Soldiers' heroic feats to be part of CBSE syllabus?

Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat on Thursday said the stories of gallantry award-winning soldiers are expected to become part of Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) syllabus from the next academic year.

Rawat said they had approached the HRD ministry recently with a plea to incorporate acts of valour, bravery and sacrifice of some gallantry award winners in the teaching syllabus for CBSE schools. “Last month, we published a book highlighting the gallant acts of brave soldiers. We are hopeful that this book will become a part of the CBSE syllabus next year. The ministry has assured us about it,“ he added. He said efforts were to ensure that all universities and colleges in the country establish a special gallery of these brave soldiers. “So far, 200 colleges and uni versities have establis hed such galleries. The rest will have them in the next two or three years,“ he added.

Rawat was attending an event organised by the B N Srivastava Foundation at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC). The foundation has been sending special greeting cards and rakhis to soldiers posted in the forward areas in Jammu & Kashmir and the northeast. The event was attended by 1,100 schoolchildren, teachers and principals.

On the criticism from various quarters, including opposition parties and retired veterans, about the Army being roped in for the Railways' civil engineering tasks, General Rawat said, “We are only assisting the government by doing it. We will construct three railway bridges in Mumbai. Work will start very soon. We feel we can do a faster job before there are more casualties on any of these bridges.“
