P N Panicker National Reading/ Digital Reading Month Celebrations

The P N Panicker Foundation and P N Panicker Vigyan Vikas Kendra have been observing the Reading Day, Reading Week, and Reading Month Celebrations since 19th June, 1996, the first annual remembrance day of Shri P N Panicker, the father of Library and Literacy Movement in Kerala.

 

The Prime Minister gave a clarion call to propagate the message of Vayichu Valaruka (Read and Grow) to 300 million Indian citizens by 2022 when the country celebrate its 75th year of independence. The Prime Minister directed P.N. Panicker Foundation to promote digital reading also so as to use digital technology in all educational tools of the country.

 

The 25th - the Silver Jubilee Year - P N Panicker National Reading Day/ Digital Reading Month Celebrations 2021 are being celebrated as previous years in collaboration with Govt. of India, Ministry of Education, NITI Aayog, National Digitial Library of India (NDLI), Govt. of Kerala, P.N. Panicker Foundation, P.N. Panicker Vigyan Vikas Kendra and other various stakeholders from 19th June to 18th July, 2021. Like last year, this year also a variety of reading related activities will be conducted on-line and some of them include:

• Digital Reading Pledge

• Webinars on Importance of Reading, Digital Library and Intellectual Property Rights, COVID-19 Awareness, Green Economy, etc.

 

 

• *Reading Competitions for School Students*

1. Quiz (The competition is open to students from Classes 6 to 12 studying in any school in India.)

Topic for the Competition

General Knowledge, Science & Technology, Logical Reasoning, Current Affairs, Awareness on National Digital Library, etc.

Last Date for Registration: 11th July, 2020 (Upto 10:59PM)

Date of the Competition: 27th June to 12th July, 2020 (Upto 11:59PM)

2. Open Art (This competition is open to all students from Classes 1 to 12 studying in any school in India.)

Topic 1: Compassion

Topic 2: Nature

Topic 3: Future of the World

Last Date for Registration: 10th July, 2020 (Upto 10:59PM)

Date of the Competition: 24th June to 10th July, 2020 (Upto 11:59PM)

 

3.    Essay Writing (This competition is open to all students from Classes 6 to 12 studying in any school in India.)
