CBSE Class 12 Business Studies paper tricky, say students

Unlike last year, the Business Studies paper this year in the Class 12 Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) was not very difficult though few questions were tricky and required effort to solve.
The paper’s direct questions were easy. However, the case studies questions were described as tricky and confusing by the teachers. Some students also said the paper was lengthy. “The paper was easy, but a bit lengthy. There were few questions, which were tricky too but I would still call it easy,” said Sohini a student of the Lal Bahadur Shastri School in Delhi.

Shahid, another student part of the Patrachar Vidyalaya, said, “We were given situations and had to apply our knowledge and implement it. So that ways it was bit tricky. If we had understood the concept then it was an easy paper.

”Like last year, few case study questions worth 8-10 marks weightage was confusing even for teachers. “A six-mark question could have three different answers. We also had to discuss among ourselves on the right answer. Losing six marks is a big deal for students who are aiming more than 90 marks,” said Ekta Kandhari, business studies teacher at Ahlcon International School.

Last year, too there was a six mark question which had put students in a fit. Many students had also scored less-marks in the subject.

However teachers said this year’s paper was easier compared to the previous year. The pattern of the CBSE Business Studies paper was changed in 2015.

This year, the CBSE Class 12 Physics board exam was not very difficult but tricky

The CBSE Class 12 Physics board exam paper was conducted today, March 16 at various test centers.
This year,  a total of 19, 85,397 students from Classes 10 and 12 are appearing for the board examinations.
The CBSE Class 12 board exams 2017 started on March 9 and the first paper which was conducted was that of English (English Elective/English Elective-C/ English Core).

According to reports, the examination was bit tough but tricky. 

Further, Section B and Section E of the paper had some tricky and repeated questions respectively.

Lengthy paper:

In an exclusive interview with India Today, one of the Class 12 students said, "The paper was bit lengthy and had tricky questions."

Another student said, "Section B had application based questions."

Paper pattern:

• All questions were compulsory

• There were 26 questions in all

• This question paper has five sections: Section A, Section B, Section C, Section D and Section E

• Section A contains five questions of one mark each, Section B contains five questions of two marks each, Section C contains twelve questions of three marks each, Section D contains one value based question of four marks, and Section E contains three questions of five marks each

• There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice is provided in one question of two marks, one question of three marks and all the three questions of five marks weightage. You have to attempt only one of the choices in such questions

Teachers share tips for Business Studies Paper tomorrow

Tips and tricks to write answers in the exam.

CBSE will conduct the Business Studies Exam 2017 for Class 12th on March 16. Business Studies is a subject that is based more on the clarity of concept than rote learning. 60 percent of the paper is based on case problems, high order thinking skills and evaluation based questions and 40 percent paper is based on the understanding wherein an average student could score good marks. While writing the paper, students should keep certain points in mind so that they could present their ideas in the best possible manner.

Proper headings should be given while writing the answers and explanations should be crisp and to the point. Students should follow the order in the questions based on process. Have a look at tips to write answers in the CBSE Board Class 12th Business Studies Paper.


• Candidates are advised to begin the answer with proper statement. The statement should be based on the question. For example, ‘Management is called a profession due to the following reasons:’

• While attempting the Opinion based questions, students should validate their point of agreeing or disagreeing by giving supported reasons.

• Students should present the answer properly as it matters a lot.

• All parts of the questions should be attempted altogether.

• Do not beat around the bush giving lengthy explanation. Instead, write to the point. If 3 points are asked, write 3 not 5. The marks will be given for the first three points only.

• Do not write the answer twice. The marks will be written for the first attempt only and the second one will not be considered.

• HOTS should be attempted at the end.

• Read the questions carefully.

• Use ‘quotes’ wherever required.

Students should follow the above mentioned points to score good marks in CBSE Class 12th Business Studies paper.

CBSE exams 2017: Smart tips to prepare for Biology paper

To deal with difficult topics, make diagrams or teach it to one of your friends to improve understanding

CBSE will conduct Biology paper on April 5. Here are some tips for students on how to score well in the paper.

1) Concentrate on NCERT content for the board exam preparation as the question paper is designed out of NCERT content.

2) Most of the process-based content should be prepared in the form of flow-charts and experiment set-ups and structure description can be prepared in the form of diagrams.

3) While preparing content, handy notes can be prepared where important terms/keywords related to a particular topic should be included as while evaluating weightage is given to the usage of specific terms.

4) Before you start preparing a chapter, segregate the complete chapter into graph study, diagrams and other illustrations, structure-description and processes. This will help you prepare the chapter more comprehensively.

5) Do as many sample papers with proper analysis for your performance in those tests. This will help you understand the specific lacunae in the preparation of a particular topic. Also you will be able to make out if you are uncomfortable with specific mode of questions (skill based, application based, HOTS, etc.)

6) To deal with a topic which you feel is difficult and most of the times you fail to attempt questions related to that topic, teach it to one of your friends. This will improve your understanding of the topic.

NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will conduct a single entrance exam for admissions to all engineering colleges in India from next year. The move will put an end to multiple tests conducted by central agencies, state governments and private bodies. According to officials, the single entrance exam for engineering as well as architecture courses will be on the lines of the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test — which is a single, all-India test for admissions to medical and dental colleges.

However, students seeking admissions to the IITs will have to ace the JEE-Advanced after taking the single engineering entrance exam. The AICTE Council on Tuesday also approved a regulation which mandates institutes to introduce induction courses, revise curricula every year and undertake teacher training through the government’s e-learning platform, SWAYAM. Admission to engineering colleges across India will be done through a single entrance examination from next year with the AICTE approving a regulation in this regard, sources said.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Tuesday approved a comprehensive package, including the single national test, for improving engineering education.

The AICTE, which is the statutory body and a national-level council for technical education, also directed institutes to go for induction courses, yearly revision of curriculum and teacher training through SWAYAM platform, said a source, adding that ₹250 crore will be spent to implement the package.

The Study Webs of ActiveLearning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) is a programme developed by the government to take the best teaching learning resources to all by bridging the digital divide.

Once implemented, the single entrance test will do away with the practice of multiple entrance examinations conducted by central agencies, state governments and private institutions.

“The AICTE has come up with the regulation following a directive by HRD minister Prakash Javadekar. It will now be sent to the ministry for an approval. After that, a gazette notification will be issued,” said a source.

According to officials, the single test for engineering, as well as architecture courses, will be along the lines of the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET), a single, all-India test for entry to medical and dental colleges launched in 2016.

However, students seeking admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will have to clear the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Advanced after taking the engineering entrance exam.
“The AICTE has been advised to ensure that the examination process is standardised, keeping in view the country’s linguistic diversity. The test will also be conducted multiple times every year,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.

Regulations have been issued under the AICTE Act making it mandatory for every state to follow it. Sources said in case a state refuses to adhere to it, it will lose AICTE approval.

“The aim is to make the process more transparent, standardised, and free of corruption and commercialisation,” a government official said, referring to allegations that some private institutions charge exorbitant capitation fee from students.

India has more than 3,300 approved engineering colleges affiliated to universities, with an annual intake of an estimated 1.6 million students. But only about half of the seats are filled.
The current admission process at the graduation level is dependent on performance in entrance examinations conducted by various agencies.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the JEE-Main for the Centrefunded institutions.

Norms revised, now more students can score extra marks under sports quota

The state has revised norms of awarding extra marks to students who excel in sports, making it possible for more children to avail them. While the earlier norms required students to meet two criteria, now they will have to qualify only for one of the two criteria. According to a government resolution issued by the school education department on Tuesday , students will now have to either participate in international tournaments or secure one of the top three positions at national-level tournaments to get additional 25 marks in SSC and HSC exams. Similarly , students who participate in national-level sports tournaments or win at state-level sports tournaments will get 20 extra marks. Students who participate in tournaments organized by the state government or any state-level sports tournaments will be awarded 15 additional marks. In 2015, sports quota marks were reintroduced after a three-year break. Many had alleged that sports quota marks were misused by students giving them an unfair advantage as many students secured 100% in board exams. But when the state reintroduced the scheme, it laid down detailed guidelines. According to these rules, students have to participate in international and local tournaments and win at the national level to score 25 additional marks and participate in national and local tournaments and win at the state level to get 20 extra marks.
“The intention was to ensure that students who excel in sports get a boost in academics. While rest of the rules will remain the same, this change will mean that more students will be able to benefit from the scheme,“ said S Kharat, deputy secretary , school education department.

CBSE Class 12 Boards: Here’s what you should know about biology paper’s changed format

 The number of application-based questions in the CBSE Class 12 Boards biology paper has increased.

As we enter the final and most crucial stage of the CBSE Class 12 Boards, it becomes very important that we follow certain practices to ensure maximum performance in the exams. Since last year, the format of the biology paper has changed. The number of sections has increased and the nature of questions has also changed. The number of application-based questions has increased and direct questions has decreased.
Paper will have 5 sections. Section A will have 5 questions of one mark each; section B will have 5 questions of 2 marks each; section C, 12 questions of 3 marks each; Section D, 1 question of four marks and Section E, 3 questions of 5 marks each.

 

Usually section A and E have direct questions so going through the paper from section E to A (5 marks to 1 mark) helps. Section B and C are application-based sections. Although this article does not in any way state that this is the only way to write the paper, all suggestions are meant to just help students and ensure they have a plan in place for the paper. 

 

Section C is the trickiest part of the paper and carries maximum marks (12 multiplied by 3=36 marks). This means that out of a total of 70 marks, the weightage of 3 marks is more than 50%.

Time management is really very important if you want a score of more than 95 in the paper. Fifteen (15) minutes are given for reading the paper. It should be utilised well. Read the question paper slowly and carefully. While attempting the paper, give 10 minutes to section A, 20 minutes for section B, 60 minutes for section C, 15 minutes for section D and 60 minutes for section E. Use the last 15 minutes to revise what you have written. It is important to support your answers with flow charts, and neat, labelled diagrams wherever possible. In order to help the examiner to quickly identify that you have written all relevant points, please underline the important terms and words.

Unit II of the syllabus has the maximum weightage (18 marks). Revise it thoroughly. Read your NCERT book carefully. Ecology will have largely application-based questions. You should be very thorough with graphs and diagrams of this section. Tables given in Unit III are also very important. Unit I will have comparatively direct questions. Unit IV is the most technical part. Be very clear with the concepts and keywords. Please underline keywords with the help of pencil. Practice attempting full length papers in the month of February and solve at least 10 sample papers including Board papers of the last five years. It will help you immensely.

CBSE app to locate exam centre

Students can find address, images and geo location

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday announced a mobile-based application which will help the board examination candidates to locate their examination centre.

“The ‘Exam Locator App’ will help students in quickly knowing their examination centre on the basis of their roll number,” the school board’s spokesperson Rama Sharma said in a statement.

A student can easily find the address, images and geo location of the designated examination centre and know how to reach there with the use of the said mobile application.

“This mobile application has been developed for the students appearing for the CBSE Class X and XII board examinations beginning March 9 as a sequel to several IT initiatives taken by the Board,” she added.

Sharma said a student or a parent has to register through mobile number to receive a one time password (OTP) to avail the facilities.

“The OTP will help log on to the Centre Locator App. The student or parent can then access information by selecting the option X or XII and entering the roll number. The student’s information, address and photograph of the exam centre will be displayed on the screen for easy identification by the students,” she said.

“How to Reach” feature in the mobile application will enable students to fetch the route map from their current location to their examination centre location, she added.
